Nancy A Draper has written nonfiction short stories that have been published in the United States, Canada, and Italy. Her book, "A Burden of Silence: My Mother's Battle with AIDS," is a memoir revealing how her mother contracted HIV contaminated blood during heart bypass surgery in the 1980s when the blood supply was not carefully monitored.
As an AIDS activitist, Nancy has spoken to organizations and high schools educating students about this raging pandemic. She has also appeared on television and radio speaking about caregiving, HIV/AIDS, as well as "A Burden of Silence: My Mother's Battle with AIDS. Her mission is to heighten awareness, promote education to prevent further infection, and to eradicate the stigma still attached to HIV/AIDS.
She received her B.S. in Education from Keene State College, Keene, NH, and enjoyed teaching elementary school for several years. Draper also taught piano to children and adults for 26 years. She continues to write and is presently working on a new book as well as a screenplay.
